Research integrity as part of the good life
According to a recent survey conducted by the European University Association (Hasgall & Peneoasu, 2022), research integrity and ethics are now considered top strategic priorities in doctoral education programmes at universities across Europe, as these elements are central to academic credibility. In this session, I will frame our discussion of research integrity in relation to conceptions of a well-lived life, rather than focusing only on what is permissible and/or obligatory. We will reflect on some of the most common ethical issues that music education researchers are likely to face during different stages of their projects and careers, and compare different theoretical foundations for possible action guidance. I will present a case from one of my projects (Björk & Juntunen, 2019) and encourage participants to share examples of their own.
Please note that the talk will be in English, but the discussion mainly in German.
