Stepan Turnovsky Bassoon
Born in Prague in 1959, Stepan Turnovsky moved to Vienna at the age of nine, where he began learning the bassoon in 1973 with Karl Öhlberger at the Vienna National University of Music and graduated with honours in 1981. Turnovsky joined the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 1978 and has been Solo Bassoon with these orchestral since 1985. In addition to his work with these orchestras, he is in frequent demand as a chamber musician and has taken part in numerous recordings and concert tours with the Vienna Wind Ensemble, the Vienna Virtuosi, and the Vienna Octet. He also played baroque bassoon with the Concentus Musicus Wien. His solo performances include a recording of Mozart's Bassoon |
